Our Mission:

To supply wholesome, natural foods, supplements, and other natural items not commonly available, at affordable prices to the community. We strive to provide friendly and professional service, offering unique alternative for the health conscious customer.

Always changing variety of organic produce

When you shop at wooster natural foods, you can rest easy knowing all our produce is organic. The selection of produce changes by the season and availability, but we always try to have our customer's favorite yams, fresh turmeric, ginger, and other staples like onions, garlic, apples & oranges. However if you come in at the right time you might just find a new (to us), more exotic fruit as we occasionally like to throw new products in to the mix!

Wide variety of supplements

Our store has recently been rearranged to make it easy for our customers to find certain supplements that they're looking for. You can find supplements under categories such as: vitamins, amino acids, mushrooms, herbs, magnesium, bone support, minerals, sleep, vision support, gout, homeopathy, allergy, lung support, cold & flu, immune system, multivitamins, adrenal, menopause stages, men's health, brain support, mood support, thyroid, cardiovascular, fish oil, pain relief, home apothecary, digestion, and many more sections!

Specialty groceries that you can’t find anywhere else

Where else would you be able to find arrow root flour, Turkish or black mission figs, healthy yet still sweet candies and snacks, and plant based meals, all in the same small store? With a whole shelf dedicated to gluten free products, as well as plenty of sugar free, and plant based options throughout, you can find many food options for many different diet plans to meet your needs!

Local honey all year round

We have sourced our local honey from Ohio Honey Farms for many years and love their products, from their bulk wildflower honey to their sesame honey crunch candies. We carry other honeys from different reputable brands such as Manuka honey, creamed honey, & certified organic honey.

Specialty goods

Throughout the store you can find a range of specialty items such as incense, candles, smudging tools, essential oils, perfumes, lotions, soaps, hair care, skin care, locally made jewelry, organic women's hygiene products, natural deodorants, tea blends, and so much more!

Our History

Although we began our food co-op as Wooster Food Co-op in October, 1971, we are still the very same food co-op, renamed Wooster Natural Foods in 2001. The store has moved four times since its first location on South Market Street in Wooster, and has been at the current location at 138 East Liberty St, the main street in downtown Wooster, since September, 1999. The first two Co-op storefronts were each on South Market Street, with the second being torn down to make way for the senior housing building that's on the southeast corner of South Market and South Streets. The third location was on S. Walnut Street, where a parking lot is now. Our Co-op was in the building that had Natalin's Restaurant in it. There was a fire in the building, though not in the Co-op, and the city condemned the building and tore it down. In 1978 we moved to the corner of W. North and N Walnut Streets, and soon added a passive solar greenhouse onto the front of the building. This large house, formerly a doctor's home and office, had two apartments in it, which helped us with rental income. We had off street parking in the alley beside the Co-op. We remained there until 1999, when the County bought our property, to expand the Justice Center. In September, 1999, we bought the building we're in now, at 138 East Liberty street. We hope to be able to stay in this wonderful space, with its great location right on the main drag of downtown wooster, for many years! We have been in business for over 50 years and counting now, and hope to continue adding to our history page as time progresses. Even though the word "co-op" is no longer in the name of the store, we still function as a food co-op, with close to 1,000 members who own the business together. As it's always been, non-member shoppers are gladly welcomed, but they don't receive our member discount on their purchases. Members pay $10 per year and receive a 10% discount on all purchases. College students and senior citizens also receive our 10% discount, every day. If you have stories or historical information about the Co-op that you can share, or if you have any questions, please feel free to direct message our Facebook page.
